Strange Adults ?
Posted on November 5, 2006, under Living in Germany.
One of the more ”interesting” things I get to see ever day here in Germany is grown adults going around on these scooters that are designed for children. Whether you are travelling along the street to the s-bahn or you are in a shopping centre, you will see some good Germany citizen propel themselves along the streets with these manual vehicles. I find it funny that grown people would use these. I can understand the fact that, yes they do indeed get you from A to B quicker, but in in doing so you come across as a complete tool.
These people think they are so cool, they can travel at higher velocities, even use the bicycle paths. But my question is “why“. Why do these scooter users think that they have to save time by travel in such manner. Maybe these people have had a misspent childhood and they want to rekindle it via this magic device that allows them pass these simple foot-walkers on the street. Maybe these things were presents from the interesting people’s significant others to allow them to get back home in the evenings that little bit faster. Who knows ? All I know, is that I have a little chuckle inside me every time I see these guys and gals zoom past me, with their right foot taking these funny strides, and trying to balance themselves with their trust left.
Thanks for brightening up my day ! Serious thanks !
EDIT : I saw some one today with one of these babies ! Now that is an impressive scooter for a 40 year old. He carried it on to the train with such pride. This over sized goofy propulsion thingie. I guess he was happy.
